Why Pretty Nice Stuff?

I love to create and work with my hands, in any capacity. Crochet has given me a creative outlet, taught me a valuable skill, continues to help me to practice patience. I'm happy to share one-of-a-kind and handmade items, teaching others to crochet and creating a space for community-building through art and skill-building.

 

How did you get started? 

I learned to crochet in college. An RA held a crochet workshop in our dorm and no one showed up. I went downstairs to heat up some food and she was  packing up. I stayed to learn some crochet basics, and received my very first hook and skein of yarn. After that, I continued to learn on my own and worked toward finishing my very first project, a tiny yellow hat. Crocheting helped to manage the stress of classes and exams, and I was shocked by how many people were already asking me to make things, despite me knowing nothing. I quickly learned that I could build on this skill, if I wanted.
